Another new guy....I'm a 57 year old HD owner who've been through a lot of turns....still got my hair!
I've own Harley's but most recently a 99 Night Train. The gent who sold it to me put a lot of money into it except for pipes. I bought it for a low price (13K miles)and installed some V&H short shot staggers (budget). I read people thought those pipes were too loud. My opinion is they're not. If you have a windshield I can see they might be. I had a windshield once on a Fatboy and took it off.
The pipes with quiet baffles installed are fine. I hear mostly wind. If you throttle up they are loud. Take the glass wrapping off (it'll burn out anyway) and they are more quiet than the SE slip on's the bike came with. I wear ear plugs so long trips not a problem. Like most, I have tinnitus....
Look forward getting some good info. Glad to be a part of this.
