Roger3, I have a 2009 1200 sportster. Frist Harley.I have had this bike for one year less than 400 miles yes thats right , ride my self, my brother-inlaw bought one the same time he is 60 miles away and dosn't like to take it out on freeway. I live in Indio Ca gets verry hot from june tell oct. need help on what to wear in hot wither and be safe. 65 years young this harley is in my bucket list so i want to ride ride ride. learning a lot just looking through this web site .

For the summer heat, get a mesh nylon jacket, like Joe Rocket or one of the many similar. Wet your t-shirt, don the jacket, and ride. The evaporation really cools you off, and being nylon, it doesnt hurt the jacket. They make mesh gloves too. I use a shorty helmet also. Studies have shown that the only correlating factors for wreck fatalities are blood alcohol and speed, so the type of helmet you wear has little effect. Ride like your invisible, and welcome.
