Twenty years ago we sold my 1978 AMF Sportster to build a house and have kids. By the looks of the motorcyle classifieds, that must sound familiar to many bikers. Even though I have hit two deer, attended several rallys, and once rode thru a tavern with the front and back doors held open, I only consider myself a weekend warrior that is ready to get back on two wheels. Today, four houses later, our kids are in college, horse farm is finished, internet business is kicking, and we are shopping for a Sportster to putt around the Nashville area. Help me out with this part... On e-Bay there are normally at least ten Sportsters with less than 100 miles and thousands less than dealer pricing. Is Sportster resell that bad now the baby boom has passed? Have this many folks actually won a Harley in a raffle? Do folks really buy a Sportster for their spouse without talking it over to see if the want a bike of their own? Why aren't dealers snatching up these e-Bay bikes at 1/2 to 2/3 the price of retail? Hopefully this time the deer will stay with Bambie, cheesburgers will be ate at the curb, and June bugs will not hurt as bad on the night runs.

Welcome from Colorado. Don't know about the pricing, lots of people selling Sportsters to trade up to the big 07s with the 96 motor and 6 speed??? I know about one dealer in the Denver area had a lot of 06 Sporsters on the floor and was discounting them pretty good. Just a thought.
