Default 07 touring cam selection problems

new to the forums and need some opinins other than dealer reccomendations and friends . please excuse my spelling .
tech guy at andrews said i could put A 548 lift cam , the new 48h in 07 street glide without any head work , he also suggested a 30 tooth front gear , thought couldnt go any higher lift on stock motor than .510 and without changeing the cam plate. will there be a compression problem ,will this cam produce its best without these motor improvements?? been hearing a lot of support on the andrews 37 . thanks bill

I might not be correct, but I thought you could go to a 0.550 lift cam on stock springs, I wouldn't push it to the max. As far as mine goes, I am going with the the 54H cam which is a 0.555 lift, but on my SE110 the max lift is 0.650

A 550 lift will work fine.
I think U can go near 570"" then one gets in trouble.
I know the Andrews 54 kind of flopped on the stock 96 motor.

I hoped it would work out, but he late intake close just wasn't what the heavier bikes needed, works good with the 103's with a little comp, but not producing a good low end for a stock 96.

The S&S 510 is strong, as is a lot of other bolt in cams...HQ's. Crane. Dave Mackie. Andrews. SE 203's and 204'''s. and of course Woods 6-6..

The main spec to keep the power low-mid it the Intake close.... keeping it under 35 will give U good low-mid power (TQ).. on a otherwise stock stage 1 96 motor.

Our dealer used to install the SE 204's with a 4* advance gear,,, son did two of them in his bikes... they come on strong, a little weak under 2700. but kick in like a four barrel carb when they come on..

now they ( The master Wrench) at our dealer ship is sold on the newer S&S 551 cams..
I looked at the dyno sheet in the S&S site, it really is strong from 2k to 5k and dosen't fall off like the SE255's do in the last K of rpm's..

Son is taking his new 10 Street Glide in tomorrow, putting the new SERT. SE A/C, V&H's new 2-1-2 crossover, rush 2", and S&S551 cams..

Hoping 85# from 2k up, and max of upper 90's and still above 80 with the lines cross...

If so... these will be some Awesome cams for an other wise stock stg1 96'' motor, without being a hard starting or ping moster....

I have a 2010 96ci with Woods TW 6-6 cams. Dyno at 95 hp 101 tq no head work. .530 lift.. I was told .550 is too much for stock heads.
