Welcome to the forum from another Shovelhead owner and the way I load pics is go into your User CP and go to your pictures and albums load pictures into an album off your computer and when you want to add that picture to a thread right click on it and scroll to properties and then highlight the picture URL copy it then you can go back to your message and edit it and click the insert image tab and paste that URL in the box that pops up. If the picture is on a online photo sharing website you can go into it and do the same thing you would have done in your album on this website. Thats how I do it that way my pictures are always on here and also if someone wants to go into my profile and look at my pictures they can.
