howdy. currently in a pre HD state. Just beginning to look for my ride and looking to gain some insiteful information before I buy . So until I can quit being wishy-washy I'll just drool over your bikes and keep putting around on my vintage Kaw.
A piece of advice I was given that helped me in the beginning. First decide on a class. Sportster, dyna, softail, touring or v-rods. Each perform differently. IE: Softails have counter balanced engines for a smoother ride. Touring and Dyna's are mounted to the frame, more vibration at idle but smooth like a cadillac going down the road.
My first HD was a softail, and now enjoying a touring. I think everyone here would at least agree...no matter which one you choose, the ride is better than most jap bikes.
Also, go to the dealers and ask them flat out what the difference is. And talk to some of the old coots hanging around. Ask what bike they have and why. I always hang out at the dealers and talk to customers, which the salesman don't mind. I even helped close a few sales. They trust me more because they know I love HD and not just trying to collect a paycheck. Let us know what you want...I love bike/car shopping.
