Hey my names Josh and i'm about to get rid of my current bike (cbr 600) (don't judge lol) and i'm looking at a harley but i really haven't made up my mind or even come close to a decision yet. I'm about to get out of the army and i want to take a cross country trip starting in AZ ( where i'm from). I guess i started this thread to get some insight on different models for LONG hauls. I'm really sick of the crotch rocket (so damn uncomfortable). So far the one thats caught my eye is the dyna glide however i know absolutely NOTHING about these kinds of bikes so i'm looking for some personal insight. Anything that ANYONE could help with would be much appreciated
Thanks for your service and come home safe. The more threads you read, the more you'll learn about the different models to help you with your decision. Welcome to the forum from NW Ohio...

Welcome to the Forum and thank you for your service to our country, which you now seem to have a hankerin' to explore on 2 wheels. This is a good place to gain knowledge, read everything you can b/c the best Harley to ride is totally subjective. There are a few (very general) rules, however: Sportsters are the smallest & lightest, softtails are designed to look like old hardtails and give up a little in the rear suspension dept. as a result, FLHs are the most practical for the long haul, but they handle like tractors (IMO), and Dyna Glides are the best handling Big Twins, often preferred by shorter riders b/c of their low seat heights. V-Rods are the fastest, but you have to put up with liquid cooling and a lot of exposed frame tubes. The beauty is, Harley doesn't make a bad bike! Best of luck to you and enjoy the Forum!
