95 fxds electronic ignition problem

Default 95 fxds electronic ignition problem
i have an 1995 fxds going down road it stopped running started backfireing got it home acted like it had jumped time pulled nose cone off cam looked good .while putting the ignition back in noticed dialpin that goes in crank was broke replace pin started wright up but sounds like lifter ,or something rattling bad.?the bike runs good just noisy.had a mechanic tell me i was suppose to pull push rods before pulling and replacing the nose cone?can any one help please.
