Howdy from Dallas. Don't get their reasoning. If you put the hitch on yourself then that would not be covered, nor any damage they could directly attribute to it. Only thing I would say is the added load would best be served by adding an oil cooler too, but that would be about it. I would check around and see what the other HD shops say on that.
