Motorcycle Fred checking in from Bend, Oregon. I've been riding street bikes since the age of 16 and everyone of them was a rice burner. Spent a few years working at the local H.D. dealership back in the mid 90's and witnessed too many mechanical failures to consider owning one. Fast forward to this week.....
Having sold my 2006 Kawasaki ZX14 and my 2000 Kawasaki ZRX1100 last year I decided it was time to start shopping for a touring rig. My main issue is my size though.... 6'7" tall and 330 lbs. I was tired of riding mini bikes. I spent dozens of hours searching and looking at every imaginable bike that might work. After a few weeks I narrowed the list down to two bikes... the Kawasaki 1400 Concours and the H.D. FLHTK... After testing the H.D. for 80 miles (Four 20 mile loops) I decided that the FLHTK was the ultimate touring bike for me and my girl. Stage one kit has been ordered and should be here this week along with a drivers adjustable backrest. Two weeks from now we will be taking her on her maiden voyage.... Boise, Stanley, Salmon, Missoula, Glacier and then back down through Hells Canyon and back to Bend. I have been waiting for this vacation for a very long time.
