Just wanted to say hello and try and get a little advice,
I am the proud new owner of a 96 FXDWG, wanted a Dyna for about 10 years and finally got one. the previous owner did a nice job of maintaining it and I feel the bike is sound. I have two questions though, a local guy that should know told me I need to change the lifters every 25,000 miles, I have no idea when this was done and the other owner couldn't tell me for sure, how serious is this, DO IT NOW, or up coming winter project? Also I want to put the turns signals back on it,(he took them off for a cleaner look.), I would like something small and smooth, probably LED, and want opinions on good companies, I am a solid mechanic, but body work is not my thing. Any help would be appreciated..
Welcome to the forum from Kansas .... I would recommend posting your question about the lifters in the Dyna or Tech areas, as they get a lot more traffic than the "new members" area does.
dude get a service manual for your bike. it will tell you if it should be done and when also how to do it. i have been around bikes for almost 40 years and have made a buch of boo boos along the way. one of them was listening to other people and acting on their words. i am a wrench myself and i should have known better but that is how you learn. good riding and be safe. an old biker in rhode island. p.s. am about to take delivery on a 2011 dyna super glide custom.
