I bought the bike new. had it at the dealer, for a week, and they couldnt find anything wrong. They told me that the foot shifter was loose and that was my problem.

what have you been told at the dealers..harleys do make a lot of horrible sounds,that is why they usaly have loud exhaust,to hide it. i had a shovelhead that sounded like it was knocking when i bought it.everyone told me it was normal.the engine blew after a year.i rebuilt it and never had a problem again in 13 years,the engine was always noisy thou..i ride a 01eg now.it sounds like a tackhammer taping on the side of the engine or a loose chain slapping the cylinder.its valvetrain noise.it is perfectly normal..you just need to learn one noise from the other.its a harley thing..they arnt like any other engine i have ever dealt with(and i was a cycle tech for 13 years)
