If you ever used a tire machine when mounting motorcycle tires, you'd be amazed at the noticable difference in the "pliablilty" of new tires vs years old tires when the bead climbs over the rim.
Yeah if their older than 5-6 years old (now this is my view there are other views) I get ride of them or dont buy them. Learn how to see the manufacture date on the tire, I believe we have threads on the subject. The search function may still be on the fritz but should be fixed soon. Welcome to the forum from sunny Arizona by the way!
Ive heard the shelf life of the rubber on a motorcycle tire is only 6 years regardless of how good it looks....anyone have thoughts on that?
About right 5-6 depending on how they are stored.
But many disagree all I can say ids your ride your life dp as you please with them both.
Age is easy look for a number like this :
4410 means 44th week 2010
3008 would mean 3oth week 2008. and so on
Thanks everybody.I think i will go with the six year rule on my bike...if its my truck, then if it holds air and there are no steal belts sticking out I will use it
