Softail advice

Hey guys I am new to this and thought id give it a shot! I have a softail Evo with vance and Hines two into one pipes on it . I was wondering if I could chop it down to where the pipe Turns into one .. I was thinking I would prob leave 300mm of the single pipe before I start the cut. Reason behind this Is I want it to be louder and not scrape as the bike is sitting on bumpstops .. All thoughts and advice welcome .. Cheers
