thanks for the welcome.my deuce is really in need of a rear tire and brakes.im going to do it myself just need a starting point.also i have a 1988 electra glide thats my real baby.going to need a rear tire on it as well.if i can figure out where to start taking them apart.i dont have service manuels for either one of my bikes...can anyone help

Welcome from Virginia....If you have never done it, even the service manual is lacking here. Need to be careful since 700 lbs falling over or a too loose or too tight a nut can get you killed here. Raising a Softail actually means putting a shorter shock on. Most people lower it by adding a longer shock(Harley's way) or an extension on the shock (aftermarket) Never seen a shorter shock then the standard one. The SE model is longer which lowers it. Remember. Raising or lowering either end affect steering on these bikes. Harley says if it goes down an inch in back, that it ought to go down an inch in front. Good luck.
