Default Newbies 72

My father always loved Harleys and passed that love onto me. He bought this 72 FLH when I was 5. It was bone stock when he got it. He painted it and rebuilt the motor over the winter of 99. During that time it was in the shop he became terminally ill with cancer and passed away in 2000. He left the bike in his brothers name to be given to me when I was "ready". Two months after he passed his best friend entered it into the auto rama. It took 2nd place.
I bought a pos suzuki 550 last year to learn on. Out grew that quick. But it had my spirits going strong.
Flash foreward to early last year. I spoke to my uncle to see if I could start working on getting it running. It was stored at my dads best friends garage under a cover for 11 years. It was not uncovered or even looked at the whole time. Needless to say it did not look pretty at all. All the chrome and aluminum was pitted and oxidized. Progress has started. It made its way from one garage to the next.

Next week we Shot the cylenders with wd-40, changed oil and put fresh gas in it. Cranked it a couple times with the plugs out. Put the plugs back in and she fired on the 3rd stroke. The flood of emotions hearing that old shovel come back to life was amazing. I have so many memories going around the block with dad.
I was getting married in September and thought it would be a great idea to be able to ride with my dad on his bike there. But I needed the title which I was having problems getting. My uncle thought I wasn't mature and responisble enough to have it. After a while he finally gave in and gave me the title in June. Waited anxiously for monday to come to get to the DMV. I went for my first ride on it that Tuesday. It was a feeling I would never forget.
After Hours and Hours of getting very intimate with steel wool and blue magic it came out beautiful. I only had to replace one heat shield. She came out looking just like I remembered. Rode it for a month Then two weeks before the weeding the trans wouldn't shift out of 4th. Figures. Had the trans out and back together intime and got to ride it to the wedding, with my future father inlaw right beside me. That was awesome.
