1962 - 14 years old, parents concent to Vespa (1950x) basket case.
they were assured, 'it'll never run again' and 'good learning experience'. Two weeks later, with NO MONEY had it running, needed ether to help with the first start of the day but it ran.. repaired or fabricated all necessary parts... except for brakes. I learned how to stop from the top speeds I could attain (??? 20-25mph) without them. Anticipation and a large field of view, were developed. Police took it away because one of the ways not to t-bone the oncoming car was to side swipe a parked car or two, to slow down and controlled 'laydowns' were common..they thought I'd kill myself.. a honda 305 eagle scrambler in Okinowa in 1966, a triumph bonniville (19??62) 650, that was converted to a ridgid framed, "chopper" stretched and raked/extended,front end no front brake death trap. The 1975 honda that I traded a 71 Peugeot for and then the 1988 sportster I bought, new. Kept it for 2 months, traded for 1988 softail custom. I should have never traded it for that 1996 road kind EFI! It, Sucked. Sold it 1 year later.. 10 years later used, 1996, FXDWG-- couple mods but pretty much stock.. was going to trade it on a new softail.. but I like the CARB and it runs great, so I'm going to upgrade.. wheels/tires/rotors/directionals/headlight..maybe new paint... so here I am.. learning about them.. but still alot to learn.. thanks in advance for your help.. good to meet you all.
