As far as your Hang Around status you are right about it being tied to the amount of posts you post. If you go to the New Members area at https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-members-area-4/ and go down to the bottom sticky titled New HDF Member Status Rankings (or just click this link) you will see how many posts for each status ratings.
You may want to read all the other "sticky" posts as well as they all pertain to new members, and if you haven't already, go ahead and post a hello in the new members area as well.
