JUST WANTED TO SAY HI.... I HAVE A GREAT STORY ON HOW I FOUND THIS FORUM, AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE IT. MY WIFE AND I WERE ON A ROAD TRIP IN JULY WHEN ***POP*** WE HAD A BLOW OUT ON ROUTE 491/666 IN NEW MEXICO. THANKFULLY THE BIKE STAYED STRAIGHT AND WE STOPPED WITH OUT A PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH, WE WERE 60 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WE HAD JUST LEFT, AND WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INDIAN RESERVATION IN THE DESERT. FIRST I CALLED HOG ROADSIDE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD GET ME A LIFT BACK TO TOWN. DURING THAT TIME, A FEW CARS PULLED OVER TO SEE IF WE NEEDED ANY HELP AND TOLD US TO BE CAREFUL IN THIS AREA. THEN A COUPLE OF BIKERS PASSED BY. A MOMENT LATE ONE TURNED AROUND AS THE OTHER STAYED AHEAD ABOUT 1/4 MILE. HE, BILL, PULLED OVER AND ASKED WHAT HAPPENED. WE STARTED TALKING AND BEFORE LONG HIS WIFE ALSO SWUNG HER BIKE AROUND AND JOINED US. BILL TRIED TO REACH A FRIEND IN THE AREA, BUT HE HAD LEFT FOR VACATION. SO THESE FELLOW BIKERS STAYED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CHATTED WITH US IN THE 105 DEGREE SUN FOR OVER AN HOUR. I WANTED TO THANK BILL AND HIS WIFE FOR DOING THAT. BILL IS THE ONE WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THIS FORUM AND HOW MUCH FUN HE HAD IN HERE. SO NOW THAT I AM BACK TO WORK I FIGURED I WOULD SAY THANKS...
BY THE WAY, MY WIFE AND I STOOD ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 2 1/2 MORE HOURS AFTER BILL LEFT.
Welcome from Texas Scott!Bill was right (was it Bill Norris?)about this site,it's a great site.I would never and I meen never pass a fellow biker that's having problems and most of the folks on this site think the same way. This site has a lotta Great people and Great info so hang out and enjoy it.Looking forward to seeing you around the place. If it was Bill Norris, you're a lucky guy to get to meet him (he's a great guy)
Glad you got squared away. You have to be talking about Bill Nourse, he and his wife live in Northern New Mexico and both ride. I believe he was moving the mascot when you ran into him. I've had the honor of tlaking with him on the phone, he and his wife seem like terrific people, and aren't afraid to ride.
Post a pic of that ride when you get the chance, and hope you stick around.
P.S. Check your caps lock, I think it's stuck! (considered shouting when in all Caps).
thats really funny guys... you're right it was bill nourse and he is a great guy, i hope to meet some more of you, especially if you're all as nice...if your ever in south florida look me up.
Actually we were on the way to the Fire and Ice Rally in Grants. I wish I had known it was going to take so long for the wrecker. If so, I would have just gone back to the house and got a trailer.
Great story. Welcome to the forums. There's a great bunch of people here and once I found the site, I was hooked for good. ENJOY!!! Oh yeah, let's see some pics of your bike.
