I'm probably doing this a little backwards but I'll start off by saying that I don't have a HD yet. In fact, I'm leaving for Afghanistan in less than 10 days. I'm the type of person that likes to do tons of research on my interest before I make a big purchase.
I'm not new to the motorcycle scene at all. I grew up on Harley's and have always wanted one. I purchased my first bike about 5 years ago. Yes it was a "crotch rocket" but I had my fun and now it's time to grow up.
So my plan is to purchase a Street Glide. After riding my brother's EG Classic I felt that the touring is the way to go. I went to the local dealer a few days ago and test rode a '08 Street Glide and was hooked.
I'm thinking about purchasing through ENCS while I'm deployed. I have read some threads on it but if I don't think there was any one post that completely turned me off from the program. Of course I would love to buy stateside and support my local economy but when I'm about to make a 20k investment you have to get in where you fit in.
Take care guys, look forward to seeing you on the road next year when I get back stateside!
