Hello, I am new to the forum and just wanted to say hey. I currently own a vtx 1800 but I have always wanted a Harley. So this year I plan on selling my vtx and getting a hog. But here is my delima and just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. First of all, Do most people actually buy harleys because the truly like the motorcycle or is it because of the popularity of them. When I bought my VTX back in 1993 I wanted a harley but none of the models attracted me as much as the VTX. I am 6'3 and felt more comfortable on the big 1800 than any harley model I sat on. But I still can't get away from the fact that I still want a Harley. And I am sure that it is not so much that I like the bikes better but more that I want to be a part of the harley group. Having said that. I am currently looking at the softail models. I am not into the long trips or carrying around the old lady all the time. I want something that looks good sounds good and basically rides decent. I have been thinking of the Softail Standard , Night Train or maybe the New Custom. I love the fat tire look and even kinda like the victory models that come stock with the 250 size tire. But then again it is not a harley. So just thought I would introduce myself and welcome any comments as I am struggling to make a decision. Thanks

First off, welcome to the forum. In my experience, buying a Harley is not a "monkey see, monkey do" thing.
