hello i'm a newbie to this forum and harley's. i do not have my harley yet but hope to soon. i am i the process of selling my kawasaki zx6r and buying my new ride. my newbie ? is, i'm up between a 2006/5 dyna wide glide and a 2006/5 deuce and i do not know enough about them to decide which one i would be better off with since all i have ever owned are rice rockets. i will research them the best i can but any input would be a big help. and the last ? is, the dealer is pushing me towards the 2005's because he says you can not put a full exhaust on the 2006 because of the emissions deal. is this true or is he trying to get rid of his 05's. thanks for all the help.
Howdy, welcome to Harley Country. In choosing a new Harley, you might want to think about what kind of riding that you plan on doing. Solo, two-up, short distance, long distance and whatever else might come to your mind. Type of riding has a lot to do with what bike would be best for you. I would also go to the dealership and see if they would let you rent each one and take it for a test run. The one that felt the best overall, should be the one for you to get. I bought a 05 model because I had heard that when the 06 models came out that there would be limitations put on them by the EPA that would spoil some of the fun of having a Harley. Hope that this helps a little, good luck.
Welcome to the world of Harley. Personal taste is what should determine bike type, more than anything else. The dealer should let you ride a demo for some distance more than around the block. I have not heard of any EPA stuff about exhaust. No matter what you get you are about to enter the world of Harley and there is nothing like it.
Welcome to the forums from the Arizona Highlands. Renting is the best way to go that is how I decided to move up to a Road Glide from a Dyna Low Rider. The Dyna is fine for all around riding and one up touring but lacks the long haul comfort of the big touring bikes for two up riding.
