first harley

hey gang. lifelong rider first time harley owner. goin to pick it up from my buddy tomorow. its a 97 883 sportster (hugger) w 1200 top end and buell heads. so ive got a ton of questions. ill start by asking if i should expect a decrease in reliability due to the modifications that have been made to it. secondly, is it worth $3000? its in really nice shape, but im not sure of the milage. i know thats a hard one to answer w/out seeing it but is that price in the ballpark? lastly, aside from the obvious like tires, brakes, belt, etc., what should i look for before i buy?
