I figured it's time to stop lurking and say howdy. I've learned a lot reading the posts here, you people just don't know how much us newbies appreciate your input. Well, here's my story:
Buying a motorcycle was the furthest thing from my mind. I rode when I was kid; my uncle gave me a Yamaha 125 when I was 15, and I rode it's little legs off for the next four years. Sold it when my son was born. I always wanted to get another bike, but like they say, life comes at you fast, and next thing I knew it was 30+ years later, and ..... well, you know.
I did get into ATV's a few years ago, even bought the wife one. Then on one trip to the Hatfield McCoy trails in WV, she got scared and never rode it again.
Anyway, one day last November, she comes home and says she ran into an old friend of hers, and the girl wassaying that her OM couldn't ride his Harley anymore because of a back problem.H e was looking for a quad to help him get around on their 18 acres. "Why don't you trade him for my quad", she says. So I say, "I don't need no stinkin' motorcycle. That dream died a long time ago. All I need is one more thing around here to pull maintance on.... blah blah blah...". And she says, "Aw, just go look at it."
OK, I am now the proud owner of a '96 Road King (25K mi). And I am learning to ride all over again. It's a lot different than I remember. Except for the knees in the breeze part.
