Allow myself to introduce... myself
My name is James. I've been riding motorcycles since my dad bought me a Honda z50 back when I was 6. I'm now 35 so I've been at it for 29 years. I have had many types of bikes ranging from your standard dirt bike, to a full on Japanese race bike, to my current supermoto bike. I compete in the Loudon Road Race Series although this year and next year are going to be limited for me. Aside from my normal job which is boring I also work in a motorcycle suspension shop part time. We specialize in chassis setup. The majority of our customers are sport bike riders but we also do a number of cruisers including Harleys.
I do not currently have a Harley but it is my intention to get one for the 2015 riding season. My current race bike will be paid off and I'll be taking the season off from racing. The extra money will go to getting me a new Harley.
Why a Harley? I guess a couple of reasons.
Comfort. I will not buy another sport bike for recreational riding again. My back can't take it. I guess too many tumbles down the race track over the years.
Performance. Lack of. I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way. I know the big motors make a lot of torque and horsepower but you can't do the same things on a Harley that you can on a sport bike or on a supermoto bike. I'm not looking to have the police chase me within a mile of my house because I'm not realizing I'm doing something they frown on.
Looks. Hell ya I want my bike to look great. Let's face it. Harleys make some of the best looking bikes out there. If you don't like it there are a ton of parts to make it the way you want. Love that aspect.
Enjoyment. I want to enjoy motorcycling again. I want to be able to hop on my bike and just enjoy the ride without constantly analyzing and pushing my abilities. I'd also like to share the experience with my wife.
Right now I'm looking at getting a dyna wide glide. I want something with the classic Harley look.
When I do finally land a Harley which will probably close to a year from now I will make a build thread like I have done for all my past bikes. I've done one for my dirt bike, road race bike, and supermoto bike. I'm psyched for this Harley when it happens as is my wife and my dad

Here are a couple of shots of the last three bikes I've done. On these bikes I've taken them down to the frame and built them back up. If anyone is interested in the build details and thread let me know and I'll get you the info.
