Default Street Bob tire/tub questions

I have an '07 Street Bob and I need a new rear tire before riding season starts up. I am moving up from the stock 160 to a 180 but I am not sure what size tube I need. I have never replaced tires with tubes before so go easy on me. I want to order everything online and take it to a local guy and just want to make sure I get the correct stuff.

Here is what I was looking at getting:

Tube

Tire

I suggest you check the Pirelli website for recommended rim width, before ordering a tyre. I have a 17 x 4.5" wheel as well and the widest tyres Avon (my preferred brand) recommend is a 160 or 170. A 180 really needs a wider rim than stock IMHO. The tube you link to looks fine for a 180 tyre.

Thanks, I will check into it more but I have seen some over in the dyna section running a 180 on the stock street bob wheel. I was thinking a 170 or a 180 but I wasn't 100% sure on the tube situation. Thanks for the clarification.

The Pirelli Night Dragon is one of the few 180s recommended for use on your 17x4.5" rim. As you might know some Dynas came from the factory with 180s on 17x4.5" rims. Most were Michelin Scorcher or Dunlop GT502 180s

If you stay with your current wheel I reckon a 180 tyre will be fine, but a 170 may be on too wide a rim. As mentioned, check Pirelli's website. Be aware that some US websites don't have as much info on them as the parent one does, their UK website being here.
