I have a Dunlop elite on the back of my fatboy. i am thinking of changing out the D402 due to several failures of that tire to a Michlin tire. Does anyone know (for sure) if mixing the tires will be a problem.

Create a signature line similar to mine on your bike. Most Harley bikes calls out for bias constructed tires rather than radials. Think because lots of Harley's run tubes and Radials require special tubes with ribs running long ways to lock to the racial. Look in your owners manual for what your's requires.
Don't guess, don't go from what is said here or what someone selling tires said until you have read what Harley says.
I am running Michlin tires front and rear now. They seem to run much softer then the Lopps did. And even with Harley Lopps, my size always ended up with two grades of rubber on the front and back. Never did figure that out. The front was fairly hard but the rear was very soft. The Michlins are the same grade
