Did some searching and haven't found much info on these. Still running my stock dunlops but getting close to needing a new rear and was gonna put a match set on when I change them. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these and what kind of mileage guys are getting out of them? Stuck between these and the commander 2's. Let me know, Thanks
If mileage is of greatest importance to you, do not get the Cobra Chromes, stick with Dunlop American Elites or Michelin Commander 3's. The Avon's have much better grip but sacrifice mileage in comparison to the others I mentioned. I have a motorcycle shop and sell/install most brands; for my personal bikes I choose to use Avon's as I value grip and handling over mileage....
I have Avon Cobra and Deuce tyres on all three of my V-twins, according to each bike. None better IMHO! They provide excellent grip in all weathers and riding conditions. Mileage is not everything!
I'm on my second set of Chromes and the grip is exceptional in all conditions, especially the rain; living in a rain forest, that means a lot. I won't be running anything else unless there is something compelling comes out with rave reviews and lotsa miles from riders. The CIII was mentioned above, though that tire has only been out for maybe 6 months and it has copied the design and compound of the Avons, so I guess you can decide what to go with from minimal road time. The OS Dunlops cupped aweful, sucked on tar snakes, and drifted me on ridged bridges - none of that happens with Chromes.

I'm not that far away from you and have been leaning towards giving the Avon Cobra Chromes a try, the Dunlop AE's I have worn out never liked tar snakes much and didn't like the wet at all after a season of riding. Guess I better decide and order up a set of something, riding has been delayed because of losing my job to the shamdemic, but fully intend to be on the road by the end of the month.
I just installed Chromes on my SG. I had Metzeler ME888s on it before and I think the Chromes are even better. I was slippin' all over the tar snakes on the road with the me888s. I don't even know they are there with the Chromes.
