I have commander 3's cruisers on my 99' sporty, got them at cycle gear, had them mount and balance (I pulled the wheels off the bike), put them back on the bike. No issues, handle really well, bought them on 5/31
Front, 100/90B19 57H TL/TT
Rear, 130/90B16 73H Reinforced TL/TT
$348.54 for tires $50 for mounting or so, call it $400 total

When I brought my rear wheel in to Cycle Gear to buy a new tire the guy at the counter told me he had Commander 3's on his Sportster with no issues. From my research on these forums and others across the web it looks like most if not all of the issues are with the touring tires. At this point I was not willing to take the risk and just went with a Dunlop AE. Next time I need a tire I'll check out the Commander 3's again to see if the issues have been resolved.
Hi all,
Thought I'd give an update on my claim with Michelin. Took about a month but I received a check for cost of front C3 tire and mounting. I had taken front wheel to a non HD dealer to install. Shocked but happy....goldie :-}
I did notice my new commander 3 cruiser tires are made in Thailand, whereas my Michelin Truck tires are made in the USA. I would also assume my corvettes Super Sport tires are made in the USA also.
Michelin may be cheaping out on the manufacturing of these tires (which is ironic because these tires arent very cheap at $400 installed for me)
I was on a steep grade the other day with the new Commander 3s and noticed my bike started to slide downhill when I was turning right on it, tires are on my sportster, so it isnt super heavy, and I didnt lose control, but a little concerning. Think I might have had dust stuck to the tire, it was over at Texas Motor Speedway, some little ramp near the south exit, I did turn around on it funny to go back to the Allison road (And this was when it was a nice dry day with the tires warmed up, cold day, wet, cold tires etc may have made things worse)

SA said keep an eye on it and bring it back, I have HD zero deductible tire warranty.
Put a couple hundred miles on since Saturday, still there clear as day.
I'll deal with it in the spring...before I take my FM trip
just an update. Rear tire got a stripe in it earlier this year, thought maybe I picked something up...checlked it up to debris, etc.
At 15K miles, tech couldn't find anything.
Low and behold, got a stripe in the front too.
Possibility of getting debris in both this way at different times? Very doubtful.
I'll work with the dealer come spring. For me, it's not the 1 or 1.5 mm groove in the tire. it's what I can't see on the inside of the carcas.
Sbame, other than the stripes and buzz, great looking and grippy tire.
I was planning on going with the C3 when I replaced my rear tire last month. At the last minute, after reading this thread, I decided to go with the Dunlop AE instead and I am glad I did. When I went to Cycle Gear to have my tire mounted the rep there said he had C3's front and rear on his Sportster with no issues. I wonder if this is an issue hitting the touring version but not the cruiser version of this tire. It's a shame because riders that have not had issues with the C3's seem to love them. Hopefully, Michelin gets this sorted out.
