Was pre rally riding in Sturgis last week and my rear tire went flat on Spearfish Canyon. Luckily friends noticed it before the bike slid out on a twisty. got the trailer and took it back to camp and my friend with me who is a motorcycle guru took the wheel off and we took it J&P in Sturgis for repair.
The wheel is fine. The tire is new Commander 2, No puncture found. The spoke band was not penetrated by a spoke BUT the stem where it is sealed to the innertube separated. They think it was either bound up somehow or a defect in the tube. Pic attached.
This is the second flat on the rear in 2 months. Pissing me off,
The question is what is THE BVEST innertube for a cruiser. 2002 RK. 16 inch. I've seen some Motoz ultra 4mm tubes online. Is that the best? They're like 50 bucks each....
Is that the correct inner tube?
Hard to tell by picture.
There is a center stem and a side stem style of tube.
Using a center stem for a side stem application can create a problem.
There appears to be a lot of blue stuff near that stem too.
A very thick tube can make mounting extra difficult.
On a side note: Consider review of you tube for several videos of individuals using zip ties for removal and install of tubed tire...less chance of tube damage.
The last 3 tire changes I have done I have used the Drag Specialties Premium inner tubes and have had no issues. I change my own tires...I don't take them to a shop.
