Maybe a dumb question...
I'm getting new tires this weekend. The sad part is that these are Metzelers with NO WEAR. They look like brand new tires except that they are 8 years old! The former owner put 15K miles on this bike in 9 years. And the tires look as though he stopped riding once he bought them. It hurts to get rid of these things...

I wouldn't ride on them. Heck, I don't even like to drive on them. I bought a car last fall that had about 600 miles on Michelins that were put on 9 years ago. After I started driving it, the cracks started to show. I had a new set of BFG's put on Monday. I stopped by my buddy's shop to pick the old ones up to haul them to the dump. He asked if I was trashing them. I pointed out the crack that went the entire circumferance where the tread meets the sidewall. He unloaded them and said he'd keep 'em for somebody that had hit hard times and needed a set of around town tires.
