Default Metzler or Avon or ???

I have about 9k on my HD dunlops and have been pretty happy with them until the last 4k or so, the front tire is cupping and wearing on the left side. I have kept up with air pressure not sure what is causing this. The rear is just getting worn in the middle but in good shape on the sides. I was about to buy the Metzlers but after reading the posts here I am concerned. The general consensus is that the Avons are better? are they getting more miles?, How is the grip? I now live within an hour of The dragon and the skyway. I do get a little carried away in the twisties and am looking for trustworthy tires.

Maybe we start a user poll on this subject, or was ther already one started?

for the twisties, I tend to trust the Avons Venoms more. much better mileage than the Dunlops, by far

Default All good tires

Right now I have Dunlop E3 on rear. Will see how long it last. Avons have stuck like glue for me in the past. And Metzler have been OK. No real preference. I just get the best deal at the time.

Here is a pretty good link from the touring section discussing tires.

I did not like the Dunlops, I chose the Avons because of the mileage over metslers. Think the Avons feel, grip, as good as any tire, to include metzlers, but are more cost effective.

Last set of Avon's I had, the side wall started cracking within a year. Swore off them since.

I switched to Metzlers over 30,000 miles ago and haven't looked back. the ME880 is a nice tire, good traction, good life.

I don't think Avon makes anything that will fit my bike...

They make the Storm 170 fits and seems to wear well.

As far as between Avon and Metz, whichever has the better price when I need a tire.

there's a 4 digit number on one side of the tire, that is the week & year the tire was made. Make sure you are buying a "fresh" tire and not one that's been sitting around!

Stock Dunlops suck..Metzelers are way better...AVON Storms are the epitome of motorcycle tires as far as I am concerned....I am in SE TN...Benton...where are you located?...
