What tires work best on a Dyna? I burned my first set "factor tires" at 12000 miles. I tried to find fitment data on various sizes and mis matches front and back and all I can get is stay close to factory and dont mix radials and bios. WTF there has got to be more info on the do's and dont's dyna tires and replacement options? I might want to mix Dunlop and Shinko or avons and why not?
There is no answer to your question. If you want high mileage you will probably find the factory Dunlops are 'best'. But if you want improved comfort and better performance in the bends or rain you should consider other brands, such as Avon or Metzeler. I prefer Avons myself, but then I am not interested in getting high mileages for the sake of it.
Tyres are next only to oils on HDF in popularity! This is your first post and I suggest you cruise around here, especially on the Dyna forum and get your legs under the table before rocking the boat.
'WTF' is no way to introduce yourself! If you want to mix brands and types of tyre, let us know how you get on. You won't find many here who do it, we mostly chose a brand and enjoy them. There are enough brands to chose from, mixing them up just adds to confusion, increases to unmanageable numbers the combinations possible and contributes nothing of value to the great tyre debate!

12,000 miles...um... it must be a D427 180/70B16 (rear) / D427F 130/90B16 (front) for an FXDF. That's @ the right milage for the Fat Bob stockers.
Go to the 'Dyna Glide Models' and do a 'Search this Forum'.
You'll get something like this if you type in 'tire milage':
You touch the road in two places.
Any problem with those two places can kill you.
Think handling and braking first, second and third.
Milage is down my list.

The comments I got were pretty consistent with what I got from the HD Dealer and every auto dealer I have ever dealt with. Been riding and driving for awhile so I did what you got to do when you don't get easy answers. I did my research and contacted several tire manufacturers for information on how they are dealing with the standard problems that face tires IE rubber on the road, braking, turning and mileage. Dunlop hasn't done much in many years. They seem to have a good tire and I guess if its not broke why fix it. "you read the answers" its what comes on the bikes its got to be good. So I took a good look at the other popular tires guys and found that Micheline has got Harley to sale there tire OEM and was just introducing Scorcher. I bought a set and took a 6500 mile Virginia to Arizona ride. Jumped through New Mexico and took a cruise up devils Highway to really test the turns and brakes. I will say I'm on my second set since "actaully this year" they actually wore out a little quicker they the Dunlops but in all fairness I was hauling more weight over more miles and in the summer up to 110 temps. When I put the second set on the dealer told me they had changed the center rubber compound to try and get a mile or two more out of them. Well I feel the new Scorchers really rock. Yes I still drag my engine guard on corners and tend to wear out the sides too. You guys wont beleave this my bride rode her Sportser on that trip and still has her factory Dunlops on her bike. She is over 25K and her tires still pass Virginia Inspection. Guess that says a lot to her riding style. Sorry if you guys didnt like my langauge but I'm a sailor who rides Harleys sorry if I offended you.
