New ABS brake system
Got a buddy that is lookin for some information on how to bleed the brakes on the new ABS system.
here is the question and some quotes from other people.
Any help would be usefull.
Thanks.
looking for info on the new abs brake systems for harley.....replacing pads, bleeding the system, the computer that is involved in the system........thanks!
story goes that the new systems need "zeroing" when any work is preformed on the brakes
FWIU you will need a DT (Scan tool) to properly bleed the ABS
the pump has to be engergized and the fluid pumped out
It's a requirement every two years. MoCo book calls for .6 hour and the fluid...
Checked with some others they say it's a dealer job...

just thinking here.......turn on the key, work the brake, add fluid until it flows clean....?

can't because the ABS doesn't activate unless the sensor
determines the front wheel is locked, so you have to
get it working to get the ABS bleed.
I'm thinking it's a dealer job as you have to hook up the Scan tool and
it tells the brakes to purge the ABS system...
I would have to check with dealers
but from what I've read, the pump is electric
the sensor in the brakes is looking for total lock....
spinning wheel isn't locked...
