Default Removing rear wheel

I searched the forum and cannot find a straight up answer to a question I have. Do I have to remove both left and right mufflers if I do not have the HD Axel Nut Torque Adapter (HD-47925) when removing my rear wheel on a 06 Ultra Classic? Or can I just loosen the right muffler and move it out of the way enough to get a socket and torque wrench on the cone nut. I am tired of paying $80 to have the wheel removed and installed and another $50 to get the tire changed and balanced. Your answers will be appreciated.

Nut side you can leave exhaust. Right side need to alteast lower the exhaust. Cover it up so you don't scratch it taking the bolt off.

I remove both mufflers when removing rear wheel. I don't know whether it is necessary, but it's easy to get them off and back on. I've reused the Torca muffler clamps at least 20 times with no problems.

Both mufflers have to be removed on my 07 bike to get the axle out. Loosen clamps and spray with WD40 the night before you take them off always makes the job easier and then just wiggle twist and pull until they come off. The first time I done this the axle was dry and it took a couple knocks.I put a piece of hard wood on the axle and tapped with a hammer to free it up. Grease the axle when you put it back together as it makes it easy for the next tyre change

Some bikes you can get away with dropping the lower shock bolts and lowering the axle below the exhaust. This works best when you have the stock shocks.

I have found it easier to remove both mufflers. There is only a couple of bolts holding them on, so it is not a lot of work. Sure makes working on it easier than working around it. Hope this helps, TJ
