Default Tire fitment reference?

Looking to replace the 16" wheels with 18" wheels on my 2006 FLHX. I'd like to retain the stock ride hieght.

Does anyone know what tire size I should be running? I'd like to run a 150 in the rear and a 140 in the front.

If there is a thread with some pics that has this info please let me know, I searched but came up empty.

I guess I could have mentioned the new wheels will be 18x3.5 front and rear...

Okay couldn't wait.....

Anyone want to check my math???
mm to inch width width width Profile Rim Total
conversion (letter) (mm) (inch) Profile height height height
0.039370079 T 130 5.12 90% 4.61 16 25.21
0.039370079 U 140 5.51 85% 4.69 16 25.37
0.039370079 V 150 5.91 60% 3.54 18 25.09
0.039370079 V 140 5.51 65% 3.58 18 25.17

Looks like a rear 150/60 18 (MV60 18) and a front 140/65 18 (MU65 18) are about what I want if I'm looking to retain stock ride height.

Any feedback?
Tire manufacture suggestions?
How about running a 140 up front??? Lots of opinions on rear tire width but not much for front width...

How about dropping it lower with a 50???? Would that give it the tire the stupid looking (IMO) "rubber band" on a rim look?

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF! You seem to be doing fine in here, all on your own. Not many call by these Tech forums, so you would be better calling in the Softtail forum to see what they are up to. You'll get many more members take an interest.

As for your suggested sizes they seem fine! And the tyre sizes you picked out have the right sort of load ratings. Metzeler make suitable tyres, possibly also Avon.

Were you able to locate any info? I'm looking at doing the same to my 2006 FLHX. I'd like to use 18" wheels also, and prefer a 150 rear tire.
