Default New Front Rotor

Ok guys - had been hearing a lot of front break noise - narrowed it down to a bent rotor - has been like this since I got the bike - finally just torqued me off enuf to do something about it. After getting the rotor off tonite I looked at the pads on the bent side and one pad is not surprisingly worn more than the other on that caliper. Bike rolled smoothly, drove great of the test ride and stopped great. Problem is the new rotor is extremely hot now. Question is this - could the different pad thicknesses cause this - i.e. the caliper is squeezing the narrower pad up to the rotor which is causing some drag on the thicker side. Put the bike back on the lift after the test ride and the front wheel is hard to spin - much harder than before the test ride. Do the calipers need going thru or just pads replaced?

It may be your pistons are not retracting fully. Check the pads are free to move in the caliper and clean the pistons and 'excercise' them to ensure they can move freely.

Whats a good way to check that? Had the rotor off a month ago and squeezed the pads up against a screw driver shaft and had to pry them back to get them to release. Hit the pistons with a little brake cleaner but havent had the caliper apart to do any big time cleaning. Ordered pads this am from the local shop and will try to clean more once I have the caliper apart.
