I need to get a rear tire on my 94 XLH Sportster this spring. While looking online I noticed tires sizes I have a 130/90-16 all of the tires listed in this size also list the width. Most are 130mm while others in the same size say they are 136mm or 138mm wide. So will these fit on my bike if they say they are my size but actually wider then the stock tires?
TIA
Barry In MO.
Your stock tyre size is MT, which corresponds to the nominal size 130/90. The other dimensions, like 136 and 138 etc, are the manufacturers installed widths.
On the one hand, if you fit any brand of 130/90 it should fit with room to spare. On the other hand, don't be taken in by those installed sizes, as on your rim they be a different size again, although only by a small amount.
