I recently had the stock 21" spoke rim replaced with the Harley Reaper 21" rim. With the Reaper rim, the wheel spacers are the same on both sides. But, in the box with the stock rim, one spacer is shorter than the other.
What are the spacers supposed to be? The same or different on one side or the other. If different, what side gets the shorter one?
Only reason I'm asking is the whole installation of my rim was a fiasco at the Harley dealership. The service tech started out with putting the bearings in backwards on the rim setting it up for the brake rotor on the wrong side. Then he forgot to put the chrome hub cap (that came with the rim) on it. Not to mention he f'd the tire up dissmounting it off the old rim to put on the new rim and I ultimately had to buy a new tire. He didn't even put the valve stem cap on from the stock rim. Now I don't trust any part of the install....
Assuming that the wheel is on the bike measure each side of the tire to the fork. If both measurements are the same then the wheel is centered and all is well - if not then use the shorter or longer spacer to move the wheel over. Could be that the original rim is asymmetrical.
