Front Master Cylinder ? - 91 FXR
Trying to restore a '91 FXR that has been sitting for at least 5 years. Ready to fire it up tomorrow for the first time, but I want front brakes before I do. Rebuilt both calipers and rear master cylinder. All is good. Front m/c is giving me problems. I took it apart and cleaned everything in alcohol and brake fluid. All looks good. I can't seem to get the thing to pump any fluid out. With the reservoir dry and the m/c assembled I can put my finger over the hole where the banjo fitting goes and get pressure and vacuum by squeezing the handle. All internals are assembled according to the manual. I'm stumped. The dealer has a rebuild kit with all the internals for $40+, but I don't think that's my problem. I believe all is good inside. Also, I cannot fill fluid through the bleeder valve into the m/c. I can only get fluid up to the end of the line where it attaches to the m/c. Shouldn't I be able to do that? Also the small hole in the bottom of the reservoir is clear but I don't get that squirt like you're supposed to. Maybe the internals are that fussy and they do need replacing? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe I didn't have enough beer.....
