front brake problem
help needed with front brake!!!!
my 92 FXRS front brakes has been playing for a while now.
it was fitted with twin single pots callipers from new when I had it (5 years +/-) .
I fitted some HD cruiser's 4 pots a few years back. the master cylinder was also replaced with a Custom Chrome one roughly around a year before that. That worked well for a time but after a year or so the brake lever started to feel strange, the feel was not the same, solid, no feel. the brakes still worked fine but after a while the callipers started to grab slightly until they stayed jammed on after I stopped at a set of lights. they took around 1/2 an hour to free themselves. I rode home slowly and replaced the piston inside the master cylinder. that seemed to have done the trick.
this was about a year ago but now the problem seems to have come back.
as before the brakes seem to grab the discs and slowly release themselves.
I am concerned about riding the bike until I will have fitted a new service kit in the master cylinder again but I found this very unusual!?
Surely the master cylinder can't need re-building every year?
Could the problem be caused by the fluid? I use DOT5 silicone fluid as recommended on the manual.
has anybody had this type of problem before and any ideas on what could cause this problem?
Thanks,
