My buddy just put on a set of OEM Street Glide rims(2012). When he installed the rotor bolts they were way over torqued. His torque wrench was broke and he didn't realize it until it was too late.
I checked his wrench with mine and the bolts were torqued to 50 foot pounds. I am wondering if the threads are going to be shot. The bike has been sitting with the bolts installed for a couple weeks now. We haven't had a chance to back them out yet.
Are we screwed? Is there any fix if the threads are gone??
Front or rear or both? I would remove the bolts and use new bolts and install. I don't think you damaged the threads unless you stripped them, but you would've felt that when torquing down.
