Default Tires warn?

I think there is a specification and a visual check for tread wear. Either I don't make hard turns or I am not leaning. Does more tread wear on the flat side than on the edges cause a problem for me now that I know how to lean into curves?

Yes it can do, especially on wet roads or surfaces with poor grip. The tyre transfers off the worn part, over the 'corner' before it gets to the less worn part. If you have the original tyres, the rubber is fairly hard and I suspect you will have a 'moment' as you lean further than in the past.

If you have found a new skill and want to practice leaning further, then a new tyre, especially on the rear (front as well, if that shows the same wear) will make the bike feel much better and safer. There are also other brands that will give a nicer smoother and more grippy ride. Plenty of recent threads on them in the Touring forum!

Once they wear a wide flat across the face, they will also corner pretty bad when you do get brave enough to be a little frisky in the S's. Least that is what my FX did. It's like when it did roll over on the first edge, it wanted to make a little jump plus my front radius does not match the rear too well anyway. I know when I put new rubber on it, it felt like a sport bike...at least for a while? HA.. In the dry with that flat does brake better. With new rubber, your braking again on iceskates..don't forget that or that next red light stop might be on the other side of the intersection.
