Default Date Code Help on Old? tire...

I purchased a 72 FLH the other day...nice little project to keep me out of trouble (well not with the wife). Guy said he parked it in 92 or 93 and hasn't seen the light of day since. Now it has rust and grease all over, but the rear tire looks damn good. No dry rot, LOTS of tread and still soft.

I am not sure if I can believe the bike sat untouched since 93 since the tire looks so good. See pics below and let me know if something sticks out to you...

I am familiar with the 3(pre 2000) and 4 digit date codes...this does not appear to have either...

Yeah..I heard you can fill the dry rot in with driveway crack filler and it stays malleable...good to go for the year.

NOT! Will probably use this one just to get it tuned decent (just around the neighborhood). Plan to replace when I register.

Yes, I want to confirm if the story is true or not...if these were installed in 98 then I know he was lying and I might as well plan a rebuild of the motor lol.

Thanks for the concern

Shizz

That's just plain stupid to use that tire.

I DO NOT plan to use the tire...I am not all that worried about the road worthiness of the tire.

Want to date the tire, that's all. I would never risk my life on old tires I can replace for $200 and some change.
