Well, to elaborate, I wear a half helmet and the wife wears a full face. I'd rather not modify either.
Whilemany headset(including the HD) say that they won't work with a half helm, they do. I have my HD headset on a spare half helm(I just never really use it).
The HD headset is designed to sandwich to the edge of a full helm. Butyou can poke two tiny holes in the strap material on the side of the helm and bolt on the headset directly onto it. I use a small velcro strap to keep it from twisting.
I guess two little holes would be "modified" but I don't know how else you'd mount it to a half helm (unless you purchase a helm designed to hold the works....like the one J&M sells).
I am looking for a good set of throat mics to work with my radios for bike to bike system, what brand did you go with and how well can you hear them? the first set I tried you could not pick up what the other was saying. Also the ol has a smaller neck and the mic wasn't even touching her.
get the sno phone from COLLET ENGINEERING. there out of canada works excellent less then half price or more of whats out there around 150 when I bought mine 3 years ago. Easy to talk off when you don't need it.
I have a Starcom1 Unit. I have integrated my iPod, GPS unit, CB radio, cell phone, and intercom. Great versitility and priority setup for the inputs. Mutes music when speaking or receiving directions.
RE: Sewerat ----- What head set/communications do you use?
Sewerat:
Here's the one I use...works well.
I notice they have a newer set that has a velcro strap
that fits around the neck... might be what your lady needs...
I'm interested in any of these, but I really want a set that will not require me to drill my helmet.
Well, to elaborate, I wear a half helmet and the wife wears a full face. I'd rather not modify either.
Suggestions?
Uhm... never, ever, EVER drill your helmet. All the better systems come with headsets that use velcro or double sided tape to mount the stuff inside.
NEVER alter the shell of your helmet; you'll just toast it.
I'd never molest the helmet shell, I think that goes without saying, but I have seen others posting on hereabout drilling to mount the electronics. Not me.
Icould look at a 3/4 helmet I suppose, it wouldhelp with my hearing as well. I'djust use the half helmet for solo riding.
