Default plug n play on wifeys bob!

been converting wifey's bob for 2-up riding [when she wants to go but not "drive"]
almost everything was found on ebay for a fraction of what h.d. sells it for...only things i actually got from harley are the passenger peg mounts, and the slip-on backrest pad!
one of the coolest things is the "plug n play" backrest bracket from j.b. fabrication. www.jbfabrication.com/
ive seen these things sell for upwards of $160.00...and i got it on ebay for $20.00 plus shipping!![pays to look around!!]
here it is with the highway pegs, passenger pegs, and sundowner seat....
super fast change-over from solo to 2-up!
here we are solo...

quick turn of the seat screw and we have this:

what's the scoop on the "plug and play" backrest?

i think its a great idea....instead of all that detachable stuff that mounts to your struts, worst of all the docking hardware that places rubber washers between the strut and the rear turnsignal [c'mon harley you can do better than that!]

this bracket eliminates all that by simply attaching via the seatbolts... and it uses a sportster sized backrest [6" width-center to center] any height...although the mfr. suggests not going higher than 10"
very good craftsmanship...and a breeze to install or remove!

Thanks for this info, Mike. I've been keeping my eye out for something quick and temporary for those rare occasions in the future when my wife finally decides to take a spin with me. This seems perfect. What backrest did you use?

Whiff

whiff... that slip on pad is just that... a pad...cost like 40 bucks new from harley...slips over the top of the sissybar and has a strap that wraps the uprights . part#91819-85
the sissy bar is the "low-medallion" style harley part for a sportster [6"-center to center width]not sure of the part #[ aquired from ebay]
the only reason i used the slip on pad as opposed to any other "screw-on" pads...was i was at the dealership getting all the hardware i needed[screws to mount the sissybar, mounting screws for the hwy pegs, etc.] and it was the last thing i needed to finish up the "2-up process" it was cheap[relatively...we ARE talking about harley here!] and they had one in stock!

no reason you couldnt go with another sissybar or pad...whatever matches your seat will work just make sure of the width of the sissy bar

How sturdy is it?

Think I'd definately cut up a mouse pad for the underside to keep the fender from getting scratched.

Definately looks nice .... good work!!

seems pretty sturdy to me pstan....the "I" shape of the bracket gives a bit more of a "footprint" on the fender, so all the force applied to it is spread out over a wider area...and since it uses the seat bolts for anchorage, its limit should be the tensile strength of the fender/seat bolt....and it comes with a rubber gasket that sticks to the underside of the bracket to prevent any scratching...
