Default moving tour pak back

I just took delivery on 12-29-06 of my 07 Ultra and would like to move the seat back the two inches the sales literature mentions. I forgot to ask upon delivery. You know too giddy about the scoot. I have looked at the bike and I can't find other holes that adjustments would be made with. I am mechanically inclined but this one has got me baffled. I don't want to start ripping things apart if I don't have too. You know how it is I want to ride the thing not tear uneccessary off the bike to get to something and cost me time in the wind.

Look at the underside of the tour pak itself - it's got two sets of "mount points" - each indicated by half-round mouldings. Once ya see 'em, you'll know what ya need ta do - it's simple, really!

I believe your adjustment is only about an inch. This option became available starting with the 06 models. If you want more adjustment back you need to go with the Kuryakyn Relocator Kit.

George Anderson makes a tour-pak relocation kit, and it moves the tourpak back 2 1/4".....and costs $95. It is much better then the Kuryakyn kit, and much easier to install.

Do a search in this forum for "george anderson" and you will come up with his contact info.

Anyone know if the Relocator Kit can be used with the detachable Tour Pak for the RKC?

No it can't. The detatchable TP kit comes with a shortened version of the OEM "U" shaped mounting bracket. That is to say it is cut off just forward of the 1st set of holes. It is missing the forward part that angles down towards the frame where it is bolted.

The relocator kit just has a longer section of tubing forward of the 1st set of holes used to attatch the mounting bracket to the TP.

I just installed the detachable set up on my 06 EG Classic. I had the Kuryakyn relocator on it. The detatchable puts the TP back to stock position. I will be drilling another set of holes in the docking plate to shift the TP back another 3/4".

Thanks. Yep I looked at it and it looks like about 3/4" is all I can gain out of re-drilling the docking plate. [:@]

I should add that I had the Kuryakyn set at the closest, most forward setting which was about 3/4 to 1" back from the stock farthest back setting. I took a measurement from a fixed point, my fuel tank lock, back to the TP backrest pad. I am about 3/4 to 1" short with the detatchable setup. So doing a re-drill of the docking plate should put me back to where I was with the Kuryakyn kit.
