Default 07 Dyno Results Question - Newbie....

Hello All,

The subject line should say it all and I apologize if this is a stupid question as I will openly admit that I still consider myself to be a newbie with regards to understanding Dyno results.

I recently added an exhaust, intake, and race tuner to my 2007 Road King Custom; however, after reading an article on www.nightrider.com
(http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/h...erformance.htm) , it seems that my results were not what I expected?

I added the following items to my stock 07 RKC:

1. Screaming Eagle Race Tuner
2. Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather - Intake
3. Vance & Hines Big Shot Duals - True Duals

The results from the Dyno were:
Max Power - 68 HP
Max Torque - 89.4

My concern is that according to the www.nightrder.com site, a stock FLH.. produces 71 HP & 90 ft.lb. of torque. Is it possible that adding pipes, tuner, and intake might have reduced the HP & TQ? If so, does anyone have any other recommendations to increase HP & TQ?

I'm a little confused.. and desperately hoping someone could shed some light on my confusion. Attached are my Dyno results..

Thanks in advance,
AB

I do have to say that your HP is pretty low for a 96" stage 1 build, but your torque is pretty good and right were you want it on a bagger.

It's the stock cams holding you back, if you want to make the ride go better............swap out the cams for a good bolt-in set.

My stage 1 88" build had 78 torque and 72 HP.........just for a comparison.

It could be the true duel set up knocked your torque and HP down. By doing away with the cross over in the factory head pipe. Some exaust systems produce less HP and torque than the stock factory head pipe with the cross over. The stock head pipeand a good pair of slip on mufflers, a goodA/C unit and proper fuel managment may do better without doing anything else.

Take Care,

Thanks for the feedback. Any recommendations on a good set of bolt-in cams?

I would recommend the Head-Quarters HQ-TC-500-HC for mild 96"~103" 2007 Bagger build.

Thanks for the help. Would you happen to know if replacing the cams will void out my warranty?

Bikes vary in HP and TQ a great deal.

What the factory lists and you actualy end up with can be significant.

Just like anything else, quality of assembly and good fortune in having the optimal spec's put together in your particular motor are important factor's in each individual bike's performance.

Car motor's, epecially in the performance arena, are prime example's of the variance's in assembly quality and final HP and TQ figures.

I have read many recent magazine article's that describe the variance between factory listed and net HP and TQ of the 07 models.

According to the "Moss-Maguson Act", installing a cam cannot void your factory warranty unless any failure or problem after the fact can be directly attributed to the cam itself. Same for a cam gear drive install.
