Hi there,
I've got a 07 FXSTC and put a set of V&H Big Shot Staggered exhaust, hypercharger intake and V&H fuelpak on her. Love the sound and increase in power, but I have some popping on decel. My buddy has the 07 FXST has put the V&H Big Radius exhaust and SE intake, but no fuelpak and it pops worse than mine. Ive rung V&H and there just gave me the run around since I live in Australia they did not want to know me. So is there anyone out there who can help with the popping on decel I would be much apprieciate your help.
It is probably more than likely a lean pop. Too much air, not enough fuel. The a/f ratio is not quite right. I don't know much about the fuelpak, so I'm not sure if you can adjust those parameters yourself or if a tuner must do so. Good luck.
Got the same problem, research shows you need to richen it up as stated above
(running a Power Commander). Soon as the weather gets better here, I'm on it.
Ed
A little mild popping on decel is normal with stock cams and is probably caused by their oddball EPA timing. I'd be careful about richening too much- a too rich mix is just as bad as too lean.
Popping on decel is completely normal for that setup as with most set-ups on newer bikes. However your friends bike is popping worse due to know upgrade to the fuel injection system. The parameters of the v&h fuel pack are non-adjustable by anyone, they only have premade maps downloaded by codes into the bike, you cannot change or fine tune a fuel pack, for fine tuning capability and an overall better, more in depth product i would suggest harley's efi race tuner, it is slighlty more expensive but it's a far more advanced and much better product with a full range of tunability. Also harley's race tuner is not a piggie back to the existing system such as the power commanderor the fuel pack it actually changes the parameters of the efi system in the ecm of the bike.
I had the same problem with their FuelPak and called them (I have since then changed to a Power Commander). They will tell you to richen the 0% throttle area and I forget how that's done. However, even after doing that, my bike would still pop pretty badly on decel. The Power Commander did away with all of that completely by making sure the mixture was rich enough at 0% throttle.
Popping on decel is completely normal for that setup as with most set-ups on newer bikes.
Not to sound like an @ss, just trying to understand...why is popping on decelnormal?
Popping on decel is "normal" only because HD has to set the mixture way too lean in order to meet US EPA standards. It' normal in the sense that all hd's do it until you richen up the misture so it can really run "Normal".
