Default Front Fork Noise on 07' Softail FXST

Was wondering how many others are experiencing a "rattling" noise from the front forks of 07' Softails. I have an FXST and my dealer told me they changed the fork design for 07 Softails and they have had problems with them. They say Harley is coming out with a "fix" for the problem but it has been 4 months now and no "fix" is in sight.

My wife bought a new 07 FLSTC and the first thing that had to be fixed was a bad oil leak from the pushrod cover. Then they had to replace parts in the front forks to get rid of a clunking noise. The factory knew what the problem was, and sent the parts to the dealer. My question was, if the factory knew there was a problem, why didn't the dealer check for it when they did the Pre delivery service? The answer is, that dealer doesn't do much of a pre delivery inspection or service. They charge Top Dollar to set the bike up, but actually don't do much of anything. Your dealer knows what it will take to fix it. Takes less than 2 hours, so have him get the parts, and wait there while it is being fixed. If they make you wait longer then that, start telling people in the show room about the problems you are having. Don

Hate to say this but heard they had 3 week strike and just settled, I worked for S.B.C (AT&T) and was in union, and I know before you do or don't strike you get bad case of F...IT, and it affect's quality, not saying I did not do my job, but I saw a lot of s... going on, so I just did my 8HRS and left, but what i'm getting to, did it affect 07's run on bike's being built because of bad attitude because instead of 29.00 a hour they may want 35.00 a hour, you never know ,there could have been lask at job then being team player ,not knocking 07's even thought about 07 110 c.v.o springer, I was like damn I like that 110!!!! more power!! you can never have enough, especially from factory, no kit's or labor to get more power but for now I love my dinky 103 fat boy, and going to keep it until they get there head's back in the job , but I still will never buy jap.. sorry metric, it's like my truck, has to be the biggest v-8 or v-10 and rear wheel drive, sorry for rant just my 2 cent's on 07's problems, hope no one else has problem's especially when you spend $20.000.00 or more.

It's not just the 07's.
Wide glide clunk has been a problem for years and for the MoCo to admit the problem would mean fixing thousands of bikes that have it,So don't hold your breath waiting......
Here is a good post in HTT that talks about it and some of the fixins for it.

My 05 had "the clunk". The wide glide front end has not changed. I have a stock brand new 07 41 mm wide glide front end in the box and it is identical to the one I had on my 05. The big magical fix for "the clunk" was to max out the torque on the neck bearings.[&:]

Just got an 07 Fatboy and every time I went over a slight bump the front would rattle, they tore it down and told me bushings in the front forks were moving up and down and only supposed to move side to side. They ordered new ones and also said they will replace the forks as well and some housing..I forget the name. Bike rides awesome other than that and they said it was ok to ride while I wait a week for the parts to arrive.
